APPLICATIONS

The MANOY® back-up ring is a solid or split ring which is rectangular or profiled in section. Various sectional profiles and sizes are available in standard or customized versions. MANOY® back-up rings can also be used in dynamic applications – positioned on both sides of the O‑ring for alternating pressure.

SKA series
External back-up ring, concave

  • For static applications, internal pressure
  • Little O‑ring deformation due to the concave form, therefore extended service life and higher stress possible
  • Easy to install in non-split grooves

STA series
External back-up ring

  • For static applications, internal pressure
  • Also suitable for X‑rings
  • Easy to install in non-split grooves

CHARACTERISTICS

System advantages:

  • Production costs can be reduced due to larger clearance gap
  • Prevents metal contact
  • Compensates clearance gap and cross-section variations caused by pressure expansion, thermal expansion, play and displacement
  • Allows the use of precision O‑rings of medium hardness
  • Suitable for almost all fluids
  • Available for any cross-section diameter and for individual groove dimensions
  • Easy to install
  • Inexpensive component with a massive effect

TEMPERATURE RANGE

From ‑200 to +200 °C
